Op shop gold

I NEVER have much success with store-bought fabric. My favourite finds have been dug out of op shop fabric bins. These recent finds have been packed away into the fabric box but I have plans for them next time I get the urge to frustrate myself. The printed fabric at back is a scene of Central Park, New York. It’s cotton and will be a skirt, 1950s-style and with box pleats. The blue print is silk. There’s enough for a sleeveless shirt – something with a boat neck and sitting above the hips. The black print is polyester and is actually a huge kaftan. There’s enough fabric for a dress and I’ve even bought a new pattern for it – now to muster up the courage to cut it.
