HOLLY Hobbie, the original Strawberry Shortcake dolls and Sindy were the dolls of my youthOn my shelf were well-thumbed books from Enid Blyton's Famous Five series, the Folk of the Faraway Tree and the Nancy Drew series.

Nostalgia has me bringing these little treasures home from the op shop. I tell myself it's for the new bub in the family but I know at a month old the only person who can be getting kicks out of them is me.

If you follow me on Pinterest, you'll see a whole bunch of other stuff I have been getting a kick out of. Oh, and while on the issue of social sharing, I've finally upgraded my phone and signed up to Instagram. You can find me at "katiecrackernuts". Damn, why didn't you warn me it was so addictive?

THINGS TO MAKE AND DO: Biodegradable seedling pots made from toilet rolls.
THINGS TO COOK AND EAT: I love old-fashioned, 1970s-era curried prawns, so a soup reminiscent of the flavours? It's won me.
THINGS TO DROP DOUGH ON: I bought a set of Tupperware ice block moulds for 50c at a CWA stall. The People's Pops book will cost me a lot more but how good will those ice blocks be?
THINGS TO HANG ON THE WALL: I don't think you can even hang this on your wall, but it's a beautiful illustration supporting the work of the Taronga Conservation Society. Look very carefully and even follow the source link to see a beautiful animation.
