THE tree is up. Each year I give the children a new Christmas decoration each. My partner and I dressed the family's tree with cheap trinkets many years ago. Over time most have been replaced with the pieces I have picked out for the children, almost all of them now adults. In time, I hope the trimmings will gravitate to, and hang on, their own trees.

This year the decorations were made with bits and bobs I found at home. The braid was made from cut fabric, the cottons and cross-stitch cloth scraps saved from other projects and the backing was cut from an empty and washed milk bottle.

I've also cut gift tags from saved cards and have another project to show you later this week. In the meantime, pop on over and check out Joanna's pictures taken at the Penny Black Project exhibition opening on Friday.
