THERE is not a Girl Guide leader among us who doesn't go with a theme and then throw a whole heap of Guiding skills into the mix. It is kinda sneaky, but this week the unit I lead was feelin' a whole lot of Valentine's Day love and none of the badgework boredom. See if you can't spot the, let's say, educational benefits . . .

APOLOGIES to the Danish among us, but our take on gaekkebrev, or veiled jokes as Valentine's Day cards was to create a little Girl Guide - wearing our yet to be released new Australian uniform. You poke your fingers through the holes and she jumps and dances like a puppet. The gag, written in Morse code on the back, read: "You make me jump for joy".

Hmmm, a sneaky little bit of Morse code work and a plug for the new Girl Guide uniform. Shameless.

AND here, a sweet little love knot card - our take on the Scottish tradition of giving a love knot to your Valentine. Ha, that's no sweet card, that's a reef knot three times over, baby.

THIS one's not as sinister as the previous two, but the Norwegian heart basket did allow us to slip one more country in because, you know, Girl Guides are global citizens, and all.

Happy Valentine's Day . . . learn something new, and impress your true love.
