I FOUND Betty Maloney and Jean Walker’s Designing Australian Bush Gardens and a companion book More About Bush Gardens at an op shop last month. I bought each for 50c. They were published in 1967 - the companion book is a first edition. In 1971 Maloney signed both books. I wonder who the books belonged to and where their garden was and where they met the author. Next month I’ll have worked my garden for five years. It’s been a work in progress and I’ve made plenty of mistakes but I am starting to feel a little more confident now and am keen to read what Maloney and Walker would have advised gardeners using natives in the late ‘60s.
