THIS is what my bedside table looks like at the moment. It’s overwhelming. I read in snatches at breakfast and before I go to sleep. There’s a stack of magazines I am reading to familiarise myself with their content and design, and the Vietnamese cook book my sister gave me for my birthday – in February – a couple of novels and my diary. I long for a weekend to curl up with cups of tea, scones, homemade jam and heavy double cream and time to pour over the pages. That weekend won’t be here for some time. This weekend I’ll be in camp. I come home Sunday, unpack the gear of 20 Girl Guides and repack for three days in Melbourne, starting on the Monday. Then I’m home and doing a two-day solar etching printmaking workshop. After that I spend a week hangin’ with a teenage friend of mine who needs company, a means of transport and good food put in front of her while her family is overseas. That takes me to October, and no doubt the Christmas countdown. How’s your schedule looking?
