JANUARY 2013... I'VE DONE IT

ONE month of 2013 down. Where, oh where, does the time go? School terms start next week and you know what, we've not got anyone going back. The first time in what feels like a-bazillion years that no one is heading back to school. Goodness me. I must be ancient.

IN JANUARY...

I READ: Love and Hunger by Charlotte Wood. It's so good I've used sticky notes to bookmark pages I want to come back to. I tried reading Emotionomics on the advice of a colleague and Caitlin Moran's How to be a Woman on the advice of a friend. Neither of them took my fancy. Anyone read them and felt the same?

I WENT TO: Darwin. The blog post is here.

I LISTENED TO: Quite a few Life Matters podcasts on the flight home from Darwin. I particularly liked the Friday talkback on growing your own and Everybody Matters piece in conversation with Mary Robinson.
***
I ATE: I have seriously eaten very well this month. Too well. There are skirts and pants that are feeling a little too snug of late. A delicious spread at Manoli's and the most delicious coconut bread and lime marmalade at Java Spice, both in Darwin. The latter I am going to try and recreate at home.

I SAW: Life of Pi, in 3D, no less. I've never been a great fan of 3D. Sure, it's clever but, meh. This, however, is a rare exception. If you do get the chance, see it in 3D.

PS: If you're in the movie-going mood, do see The Impossible before February 4. If you have a Hoyts Cinema nearby, choose to see it there because $1 of the ticket price comes to UNICEF Australia. How's that for you - a trip to the movies and doing good at the same time.
