I KNOW I am going on a bit with the Famous Five stuff but, hell, it's good stuff so indulge me a post or two more.

The last mystery I read, The Famous Five Get Into Trouble (well, der), had the gang downing ginger beer and lime every time they got the chance. What is this ginger beer and lime, I thought, and, as I do like to be in the know, I bought myself a bottle of ginger beer and a bottle of lime cordial and mixed myself a little 1950s kiddie beverage.

It's not bad. In fact, it's bloody good and if you don't believe me duck down to the corner store, pick yourself up some ginger beer and lime and start mixing. I'm calling it the Famous Five. If you know what would make it into a kick-butt adult version, hit me with it. I'm thinking gin, or maybe vodka for a cheat's version of a Moscow Mule. Suggestions?

  2. Enid Blyton sure knew how to set a good spread. As I'm not a fan of either gingerbeer or lime Corey, I'm going to pass on this one but I thank you for this lovely trip down memory lane. x

  5. I'm entirely sold on your Famous Five. Way more so than the Gatsby-esque Mint Julep I tell myself every summer that I HAVE to try.

  8. You can buy actual Ginger beer with an alchol content, there is a fabulous one out there called Crabbies that I love to add a splash of lime too, make sure it's super chilled!

  9. I've never tried ginger beer and lime before. As a lifelong fan of The Famous Five I am slightly embarrassed about this fact. Will amend very soon!
