THE tree is up. Each year I give the children a new Christmas decoration each. My partner and I dressed the family's tree with cheap trinkets many years ago. Over time most have been replaced with the pieces I have picked out for the children, almost all of them now adults. In time, I hope the trimmings will gravitate to, and hang on, their own trees.

This year the decorations were made with bits and bobs I found at home. The braid was made from cut fabric, the cottons and cross-stitch cloth scraps saved from other projects and the backing was cut from an empty and washed milk bottle.

I've also cut gift tags from saved cards and have another project to show you later this week. In the meantime, pop on over and check out Joanna's pictures taken at the Penny Black Project exhibition opening on Friday.

  2. They look awesome! Great job. I'm aiming to embroider some fabric decorations myself this weekend.

  3. What a lovely tradition. My favourite Christmas decorations are the ones the kids have made themselves - wonky angels and reindeer heads made by tracing around their foot (for the face) and their hands (for the antlers). Each year those hands and feet get bigger and bigger and we all marvel at how tiny they used to be.
