THE only forecast I will care for next week is the weather forecast. I am heading off to the Hunter Valley for a camp with about 250 Girl Guides. I go in tomorrow and the girls start arriving Sunday afternoon. It's been a while since I've done the week-long standing camp and I am looking forward to getting down and daggy with the girls. It's hard yakka but we have a lot of fun and come home with browned faces, arms and legs, smelling of cooking fires and with muscles stretched from putting up and pulling down canvas.

I'll also be well away from the luxuries of the internet so will miss seeing what you're all up to. I'll catch up with you next month. I know, can you believe it's October at the end of next week? In the meantime, enjoy the spring fashion forecast from 1984 and '85. Check out the shoulder pads and Dynasty dressing. I am quite relieved all I'll need for the next week is shorts, T-shirts and runners - and no one will care how grotty they are.

  2. Enjoy yourself! I was a GG and I well remember the euphoric fun of a meet-up camp with other guides. We loved it so much! x
