TAKE five long-time friends, a friend of a friend and now new friend, someone’s fella, someone’s husband and a handful of kiddlings. Add a bunkhouse on the side of a mountain a few hours from home where the air is crisp, the skies clear and the view stretches far to the west. Throw in a wood fire, doonas, a pantry of treats, wine, beer, a little baking, antique stores to browse through, a toasty warm pub and cafe serving up big breakfasts and you’ve got yourself a wee self-made retreat.
