IF you’re on the coastal fringes of eastern NSW you were on Sunday no doubt waiting for the forecast wild winds to wreak their havoc. Life here has been a little like that of late. The end of a uni semester always brings a period of adjustment for my partner and the usual questioning about whether, at close to 50, tertiary study has value. More than 10 years younger and having just accepted a new job, I am cautious about my answers. There are eggshells and not just the ones I’ve been scattering about the base of my snap peas.

Ah yes, I did mention a new job. I’ve been penning in my head an announcement of sorts, but there it is. After more than 15 years in community newspapers – of the printed variety – I will soon support community newspaper editors in the Sydney region with the development of their online news content. With the introduction of iPad and the fast uptake of on-the-go wireless internet technologies and content it’s an exciting time for journalists.

So, please do excuse me if posts are a little all-over-the-shop these coming weeks. The forecast here in katiecrackernuts-land definitely features the word “scattered”.
