MY sister moved closer to Brisbane city last year and this was my first visit to her family's rented Queenslander. It needs a lot of tender loving care but has all the things I love about these homes. The big veranda, coloured glass sash windows, wooden floors and walls and all that gorgeous space.

Brisbane jeweller Rebecca Ward has been using glass from the discarded and broken Queenslander windows in her jewellery. I bought a pair of her earrings at the Museum of Brisbane store in the city. The light through them reminds me of a warm, sunny Brisbane winter's day.
