HANDS up if you’ve picked something up from a roadside rubbish pile. Go on, you in the back, I know you have. This roadside pickup came to me. Four Casala chairs and a Werzalit table top with matching tulip base were dumped outside the Girl Guide hall. This table setting wasn’t needed by the hall committee so I brought it home to see if I could clean it up. This was my first attempt at removing possibly 30 years of mould. An online search has revealed the chairs are possibly the Casalino, designed in 1971 by Alexander Begge. I am somewhat stumped, however, by the fact they were made in Australia. Any clues people? And any nifty ideas on how to remove the mould? Liquid sugar soap didn’t get rid of it all and I fear bleach or Exit Mould will strip even more colour from the plastic.
