I HAVE the worst skin. Every so often the cleansing products I use reach some kind of critical mass and my skin just erupts into rashes or lumps, or both. I’ve had many trips to doctors – once for a persistent fungal growth kicked off by a product with a high concentration of citrus. Gross. I know. I am sure you’re thrilled to be in the loop.

Anyhoot, I am wary of new products. I try to buy as clean and green as I can. It has to be made in Australia and I lean very strongly toward brands that avoid animal testing. It kinda cuts the options. I bought a trial pack of Jurlique products this week. It was a little Easter treat that looks fit for the season. So far, not so good, but I’ve got a couple of weeks supply to see whether my skin settles. In the meantime, I’m the one with my head down.

  4. I too can relate to bad skin... What a lovely little Easter treat, I hope things settle down for you. I have recently discovered adding flax seed oil to your diet is a great problem skin remedy... just a thought.

  5. I can totally empathise with this. I have had the worst skin lately - very teenage. I tried Jurilque the Jurlique trial pack for sensitive skin and it didn't quite work out. Turned to Clinique in desperation and so far not too bad, but I wish I were using Jurlique as it smells and feels so good. Good luck :)

  8. Hello Katiecrackernuts!!
I was once prone to a break out or two and there was once a girl I worked with who said she had a similar problem. Liar, I thought as her skin always looked divine. She said it was thanks to QV wash (the cheap stuff in the blue and white bottle you can get at the chemist). So I tried it for myself and have been using it ever since. I do use the occasional scrub and mask too but daily cleansing is with QV. Just putting a plan B out there if those gorgeous Jurlique products don't cut it.
    Evie x

  11. Gosh, you've hit a chord here with a lot of us, myself included. I've had sensitive skin prone to eruptions since my teens and I'm in my late 30s now! What helped me was going natural/organic - I now use Eminence (Hungary) and my face has never looked better - regular facials, when I can manage them, help a lot too. I haven't tried Jurlique but saw it recently in an eco shop - is it natural or organic? Let us know how you fare ....

  12. Just had to add one more thought: I too have had problems holding my head high when I feel badly about my skin. I don't like going out without makeup on my face, but I hate the heavy overdone look of foundation and powder. Jane Iredale's mineral powder isn't cheap but I swear by it - it covers redness and splotchiness and is sheer and non-cakey at the same time ... AND has a natural SPF (no I don't work for this company, I swear!). I get so many compliments on my skin it's unbelievable....

  13. I too had bad skin - a lot of outbreaks of flakiness and red rashes, as well as dry lips and oily patches where a nice fat zit would mushroom.

For years it was thought to be an allergic reaction to tomatoes (I would be very devastated if it really was), and I discovered that using soap on my face made it worse, as with trying various cleansers, and I eventually settled for just hot water, a very light toner and a jar of moisturer (Garnier I think).

Then a friend introduced me to Lush - and I fell in love. All of it is natural and organic and so on, with vegan options. A week later, my skin was fixed. People stopped in the street to marvel. (Okay maybe not... but my family/friends did)

Everyone's different, with different products to suit, but the beauty of lush is that they have several ranges to suit (coal based or mud based face cleanser, almond milk or avocado oil based moisturer, and the peppermint foot lotion is to die for!)
