ABOUT an hour into a three-hour bush walk I was starting to feel some sense of the past three weeks being left behind. It’s been busy. Not super awful busy just a bit of a juggle. On Sunday morning I dropped the teen I was “teen-sitting” to the bus that was to whisk her away to camp and met my partner and eldest stepdaughter for a National Parks and Wildlife Service bushwalk. My partner is working toward becoming a NPWS Discovery ranger and on Sunday we did a bird watchers’ walk. As it turned out it was windy and we saw very few birds. We did see a peregrine falcon and its mate – apparently a big thing – a golden whistler, yellow robin and a wonga pigeon. Yawn, eyes roll. I’m not much into bird watching. Bushwalking. Yes. Birdwatching. No.
