I SAW Mamma Mia last week and after I stopped cringing at Pierce Brosnan dancing and prancing about a Greek isle, I got to thinking about my old school mates and where they all are and whether I’d throw myself out of a jeep and madly wave my arms about should a couple of them show up at my place tomorrow. I have maybe two school mates with whom I’ve kept in touch. There are a few more listed as “friends”on online sites like Facebook, but I’m not sure that kind of superficial contact would have me, or them, twirling about to ABBA's Dancing Queen. My only physical reminder of those times is this photo – and the backing track would be something more like Europe’s The Final Countdown. Reg, Linda and Duron, my 17-year-old self misses ya.
