I HAVE just finished Kate Llewellyn’s The Dressmaker’s Daughter and was wondering what to read next. I bought Geraldine Brooks’ People of the Book with a gift voucher the family gave me for my birthday. But I also, this week, took a bag of books to my friendly book exchange and, without having to hand over a single cent, brought home these treasures. Lily Brett’s Too Many Men, Jeanette Winterson’s Art and Lies, Catherine Cole’s The Grave at Thu Le and Marsha Mehran’s Pomegranate Soup. Any advice? What should I read next?

  1. The book exchange sounds like a fabulous resource! I'm not familiar with any of the books youv'e mentioned. I'm working my way through my thrifted copy of Time Traveller's Wife...ya very late - but I'm loving it.

  2. You've gotta read Geraldine, oh my, what would my life be without her? Have you read her other work? It's worth it. Otherwise, Lily Brett, but you've got to be in an up kind of mood, to be able to handle it (well I do anyway). I've only recently discovered you and am pleased I have. Dora x
