I PLANTED a banana tree about two summers ago. When we moved from a very cold climate country town to a warmer coastal climate I was excited by all the potential that held for new garden plantings. Severe water restrictions curtailed my plans but I did add the banana tree and bucketed grey water from the washing machine on it. I have been rewarded with hands of bananas, which I think I’ll be able to cut down this week. Mmmmm, I can feel a delicious Vietnamese che chuoi coming on.

  1. That bunch of bannanas looks exotic.... I love that purple shade. And as for the banksias, wow! I'm very keen on native plants, pods and gumnuts. Lovely drawing - do you remember the drasings of May Gibbs? Her Big Bad Banksia Men are interesting.
